Course Calendars
In 2003 I helped to redesign the Athabasca University course calendar, and continued to work on it until 2008. The course calendar is primarily an information document that needed to be conservative with page numbers to reduce weight in shipping, but above all, it needed to be clear and readable for students. For this purpose, I designed a typography template that implemented the nested typographic styles in Adobe InDesign to automate formatting according to how standard information was typed. As well, we added a warm human face to this formal document with student profiles, campus stories, and many layout techniques borrowed from magazine design. We also redesigned the websites for both the graduate and undergraduate calendars.
